Sometimes you may want to track time before a project has entered the Contract or later stages, such as time for design and engineering. Using the "Presales Design and Engineering Time Tracking" feature allows you to clock time into a project on desktop and see that you are clocked in to that project as you move around Jetbuilt.
Activating Presales Design and Engineering Time Tracking
Head into Settings > Install to turn on time tracking for presales design and engineering.
After you've clicked the checkbox, click the Update button.
Selecting Labor Rates to Use
After you've activated time tracking for presales design and engineering, go to Settings > Company > Labor Rates where you will see a new time tracking column.
Select the checkboxes for the labor rates you want available to track time for in your projects. In addition to the Engineering category, you can also select labor rates that are in the Install, Management, and Programming categories to track time on the desktop as well, if needed. Once you've selected your desired labor rates, click the Update Labor Rates and Costs button.
NOTE: You can also select office labor rates to track time for in a project on desktop, if you're using unique office labor rates for an office. (Enterprise Only.)
Tracking Time in a Project
With the setting turned on and labor rates selected, go into a project to start tracking time at any stage of the project. To track time, click the orange Clock In button in the Projects Area navigation menu.
In the window that appears, select the labor rate for which you want to track time, give the time tracking session a description, and click Clock In.
Now you are clocked into that project and tracking time for the selected labor rate. This also means you will see an orange banner anywhere you go in Jetbuilt, letting you know that you are tracking time to that project.
When you've finished your work and are ready to clock out, click the black Clock Out button in the orange bar to end your time tracking session. In the window that appears you can modify the session description if you'd like, and then click Clock Out to confirm.
The time that you've tracked will then appear under Time Tracking in the Install section of the project as well as the Work In Progress report under the Tools section of the project.
NOTE ON MOBILE: The orange "Clocked In" bar will show on desktop when you are clocking time using the JetbuiltGO mobile app, letting you know that you are already tracking time from there for a Service case or related to Install tasks.
